Bremen, Germany to Esbjerg, Denmark

Mich our Road Captain for the 2nd Day!

Today I didn't even hear my roommate get up and take a shower and pack!  I woke up at 6:30 and Connie was already to go!  Packed and washed and brought everything down to the luggage truck and then had breakfast.  8:15 am is our briefing time and you don't want to miss it or you just might hear about it later - LOL.

Prior to the briefing though Cindy let me know that there was a very nice square around the corner that was worth the visit so Connie and I headed out with Sam and another Australian to take a look.  Well it was beautiful - the old buildings were amazing.  Bremen is a shipping city and a number of the buildings had ships on them or in the windows.

The roads were flat and straight but with nice views along the way.  At one point along the road we had been following a blue truck for quite sometime and when it finally turned off Betty pumped her arm up in the air and was so excited not to have to look at the blue truck anymore - made me laugh out loud.  We crossed a river by ferry this morning and it is really cool that in Germany all motorcycles are expected to pass everyone and go directly to the front of the line and get on the ferry first and off reasonably first unless there is a truck in the way (which there was) and then we were able to go before everyone else.

Lunch was at a little quaint village alongside a river or a dyke which was quite nice once they finally served us.  I think they were a little overwhelmed with all the people showing up on bikes.  The food was delicious though - I had salad with northern shrimp on it.  They were teenie tiny shrimp but lots of them.

On the way to the hotel we stopped at another village and walked through all the old buildings.  Beautiful!!  I stopped at a ice cream shop but had a yogurt with a lemon sauce on it - delicious!  I was hoping to call Paul and my mom and dad to say hi and I was able to get them all so I had a nice chat with home!

Tonight arrived at 7:15 to the hotel and had enough time (just) to shower and get down to dinner.  Just before dinner we each were given Viking hats (hard plastic ones for the guys that look like helmets and soft ones for the girls which also look like helmets but have orange braids hanging down). Priceless seeing a bunch of adults carrying on with these hats as if we are all children.  Dinner was a smoked salmon for starters with sweet and sour cucumbers and then roast beef with baked potatoes and vegetables.  Dessert was a variety of little things.
